Dr. Vu Nguyen is a board certified therapeutic optometrist and glaucoma specialist, clinically trained to diagnose and manage ocular infections and eye diseases. His professional areas of interest include hard-to-fit contact lenses, pediatrics, glaucoma, dry eye management, cataract & LASIK co-management, and Computer Vision Syndrome. Dr. Nguyen has over 35 years experience in the optical field, with 23 of those years in private practice.
Dr. Nguyen is one of the few, original Today's Vision Doctors. He was elected by his Doctor/Owner colleagues to serve as a Corporate Board Member, and is currently the Chairman of the Frame Committee.
He is a 1999 graduate from the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO). While in optometry school, he was a math instructor in TEXOCOP, a summer program for college students pursuing a career in optometry. In addition, he tutored fellow optometry students in the field of geometric and ophthalmic optics. He received the Varilux Student Award in Optics during his fourth year. He completed additional clinical training at The Eye Institute of San Antonio and The William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, TX.

Always proud to be an Aggie, Dr. Nguyen earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science from Texas A&M University in 1995. He was member of the Dean's Honor Roll and Golden Key National Honor Society. During his senior year, he completed an Undergraduate Research Fellowship in Biochemistry at the Texas A&M School of Medicine.
Dr. Nguyen is a member of the Texas Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, Pasadena & Deer Park Chambers of Commerce, and Texas A&M Association of Former Students Century Club. He is an annual supporter of The Research to Prevent Blindness Foundation, volunteer for the Special Olympics Vision Screening, and a current member of The Heritage Registry of Who's Who.
In 2003, Dr. Nguyen was appointed Adjunct Clinical Professor at The University of Houston College of Optometry. Despite the busy demands of his three private practices, Dr. Nguyen finds time to stay involved with the University to help mentor and develop its students into optometrists. Outside the office, Dr. Nguyen is a die-hard SPURS, Astros &Texans fan and appreciates spending quality time with his wife Dr. Nicole Tran, a Gynecological Surgeon at The Woman's Hospital. He has three children and enjoys traveling with his family, coaching youth sports, and running in his spare time.

Dr. Christina Cantu
Dr. Cantu received her doctor of optometry degree from the University of Houston - College of Optometry. As a therapeutic optometrist, she is able to treat and manage a variety of ocular conditions from corneal foreign body removals to helping preserve vision loss from glaucoma.
Although she is dedicated to helping people of all ages, she has a passion for working with pediatric patients, and has the unique ability of making their eye exam an enjoyable process. In her efforts of helping to slow down myopia progression, Dr. Cantu is certified in myopia management using different modalities of treatment such as MiSight, orthokeratology and atropine. Her goal is to help children utilize their eyes to their fullest potential in order to have a solid foundation for their educational success. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and staying active outdoors. |
Dr. David Riojas

Dr. Riojas grew up in Eagle Pass, Texas and is now a proud Houstonian. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Texas at Austin and his Doctorate of Optometry degree from The University of Houston. He received his externship training in Oklahoma where he diagnosed and treated a variety of eye conditions for the Cherokee Native Indian tribes. He received additional training at the VA Medical Clinic in San Antonio where he helped veterans with macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy. He also dedicated a day a week at the VA hospital to help veterans suffering from traumatic brain injuries causing double vision, light sensitivity, and vision loss.
During his early years of practice, Dr. Riojas was an associate doctor at a well-established private practice where he was able to help patients ranging from 4 years old to the geriatric population. He treated many amblyopic (lazy eyed) children and saw a large volume of patients with ocular diseases and injuries. Additionally, he developed skills in fitting specialty contact lenses for irregular astigmatic patients such as rigid gas permeable (RGPs) and scleral lenses.
Dr. Riojas has also worked closely with several glaucoma surgeons where he specialized in diagnosing and treating patients with various types of glaucoma. Furthering his experience, he also worked with endocrinologists and rheumatologists, helping patients with diabetes and thyroid eye disease, as well as patients with ocular complications due to rheumatological conditions such as severe dry eye, uveitis, plaquenil toxicity.
Doctor Riojas is committed to giving back to the community by participating in the Houston Health Department’s “See to Succeed” program. See to Succeed initiative was established in order to provide free eye exams and glasses to underserved school kids. He also served on a number of mission trips to Mexico where he helped to restore and provide vision care to the indigenous population.
When Dr. Riojas is not at the office, he enjoys working on his home, watching and attending local sports events, and cooking.

We have been serving the Pasadena, Deer Park, La Porte and South Houston communities for the past 20 years.
